Fares from 3 January 2020
The Stockholm County Council Assembly has decided that transport fares in Stockholm County are to increase as of 3 January 2020.
The increase will be applied to certain fares on transport services provided by SL, Stockholm Public Transport.
There are equally a few fares that will decrease in order to make prices more uniform. From 3 January, a single-journey ticket will cost SEK 37 (SEK 25 reduced fare) regardless of if it is purchased through the SL smartphone app, at a ticket booth or from a vending machine.
In order to meet the demands of a rapidly growing population in the Stockholm region in the coming years, several major projects and investments are being carried out with the aim of providing a satisfactory standard of public transport to all our current and future travellers.
An example of this is the extension of the Stockholm Metro system as well as the Tvärbanan Light rail. Such extensions of the public transport network increase the costs of services. These costs are compensated for partly by council taxes and partly by increased revenues from ticket sales.
Fixed fares for single-journey tickets
In 2017, fixed fares were applied to single-journey tickets. Therefore, it is not necessary to keep track of zones when travelling within Stockholm County. A fixed fare allows unlimited travel for 75 minutes.
A single-journey ticket can be purchased through the SL smartphone app, at a ticket booth or from a vending machine. It is available as a single-use travel card or as top-up credit on an SL Access card.
