Smart phone ticket app
The SL smart phone app is a convenient way to buy a single journey ticket. This is how it works.
Choose method of payment
If you are a resident in Sweden with a Swedish personal ID number, you can choose between paying with bank card or a monthly bill. If you are a temporary visitor, you choose the bank card option.
Buying a ticket
Choose between adult fare SEK 44 or discounted fare SEK 30.
You pay adult fare if you are between 20 and 64 years old. You pay the discounted fare if you are over 65 years of age, a student holding a Swedish student identity card with the SL logotype, or if you are under 20 years of age.
The ticket is valid for travel for 75 minutes on all SL services. Note that the ticket's validity starts the moment you buy it. You cannot buy a ticket in advance.
Paying for your ticket
With your first purchase you choose method of payment, as described above. If you have connected a bank card to the app the fare is withdrawn from your card account. If you can use the monthly bill method, you will receive a bill from Klarna to your adrress of residence. Klarna administer this service on behalf of SL.
The ticket is in the app
The ticket is stored in the app on your phone. You show your ticket to the bus driver, the ticket inspector or conductor. At certain places, mainly Metro and train stations, there are optic readers for this type of ticket. Simply hold your phone to the reader and pass through the turnstile.
The expiring time and zone or zones you can travel in are displayed on the ticket in the app. In addition, there is information about full or reduced fare, how much you paid (in Swedish kronor) and which date the ticket was purchased.
